Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
Incorrectly classified as a synonym of esebria Hewitson by Trimen (1887 and 1889). Aurivillius (1893) presents a drawing of a female alciope Hewitson, stating that cydonia is likely a synonym of this species. Eltringham (1912, 1916) classifies cydonia as the female of alciope. However, according to the nomenclature code, it is a synonym.
