Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
Does Grose-Smith describe conjuncta in reference to nandina? (Was he referring to nandensis Sharpe?). Aurivillius (1898) classifies this taxon as a species. Eltringham (1912, 1916) does the same. Le Doux (1931), van Someren (1931) and Bryk (1931), on the other hand, classify conjuncta as a synonym of ansorgei Grose-Smith. On the basis of repeated rearing experiments, Bryk first and then van Someren demonstrated that both forms are obtained from the same clutches. Howarth (1969) classifies conjuncta as a form of ansorgei, and notes that Grose-Smith recognised his error and acknowledged the conspecificity of these two descriptions.
