Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
This taxon is classified as a synonym of pudorina Staudinger by Butler (1896), on the basis that it is merely a seasonal variation. This view is strongly contested by Marshall, who confirms that these two species are indeed distinct. Aurivillius (1898) classifies chaeribula as a variety of acrita Hewitson. Strand (1910) classifies chaeribula as a form of acrita, but notes that according to Neave (1910) it is a valid species. Eltringham (1912) confirms this view that it is a distinct species.
