Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
Classified by Jordan (1916) as a subspecies of alcinoe Felder & Felder. Le Doux (1937) and later authors confirm this classification (d'Abrera, 1998). However, this status is highly disputable (Bernaud), as camerunica is, in the author’s view, a variant, one that is, moreover, difficult to distinguish from the nominate form, and whose populations are largely mixed. Pierre & Bernaud (2014) confirm the synonymy with alcinoe.
