Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
Druce (1875) classifies this taxon as a form. Aurivillius (1898) classifies arctifascia as a synonym of protea Trimen, and thus as an Acraea. Eltringham (1912, 1916) confirms that arctifascia is a synonym of protea. Pierre & Bernaud (2014) confirm the synonymy with esebria Hewitson.
