Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
Described as a species (1899 or 1907?). Eltringham classifies arabica as a subspecies of neobule Doubleday (1912, 1913, 1916), for the main reason that the drawings of the genitalia presented by Rebel are quite different from those of the base species. Le Doux (1921, 1930) classifies arabica as a subspecies of violae. Gabriel (1954) notes that neobule corresponds to the typical species for the Aden Protectorate, but that the arabica race flies in Arabia. Larsen (1983) states that it is a simple form of neobule. This is the current position of the Pierre & Bernaud catalog (2014). However, according to the code, arabica is a synonym of neobule.
