Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
Aurivillius stated in 1898 that he was unable to classify this taxon into any of his groups. Eltringham (1912, 1916) classified this description together with conjuncta Grose-Smith. Acraea conjuncta is in fact classified today as a synonym of ansorgei (the type specimen of ansorgei is a female, and conjuncta is the male).
