Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
Described as very closely related to oreas Sharpe. Eltringham (1912, 1916) classifies angolanus as a form of oreas. Pierre considers the status of this taxon to be uncertain. The description of oboti Collins & Larsen (2000), which is very closely related to angolanus, has revived the debate over the validity of this taxon.
