Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
First, it should be noted that some authors, such as Neave (1910), had clearly identified the distinctiveness of this form (which Neave mistakenly named ambigua). Overlaet (1955) maintains that eltringhamiana is a subspecies of acrita, a view shared by Carcasson and Ackery (1981). Pierre elevates this description to the rank of species (1987).
